Connections ILP is an 8-bed independent living program that places young adults (ages 18+) in regular rental apartments in the community. Youth must demonstrate a high level of responsibility, communication, and self-regulation skills. Youth must also demonstrate that they are drug-free for at least twelve months to be accepted into the program and submit to regular drug testing while in the program. Beginning in October 2024, all Connections ILP applicants must first complete at least six months as an achieving resident in The Lofts @Rise Up Academy TLP program.
The Program Director for The Lofts must also provide a written letter of recommendation. Residents must be enrolled in school, or work-training program and must maintain part-time employment and ongoing therapy counselling services to be accepted into CCYA's Connections ILP.
If a resident withdraws from school or does not maintain employment, the resident will be expelled from the program.
Services include apartment furnishings, rental and utility assistance; $300 monthly stipend per resident; on-going case management; supportive housing services (basic needs, education & support, life skills, job readiness, placement, and career planning); therapeutic counselling services; access to medical and dental treatment services; and regular drug testing.
Note: All Connections ILP apartments are at least two-bedroom apartments and therefore, two residents must be eligible for and placed into the program within four months of each other before CCYA can rent a two-bedroom unit.
