2023 First CCYA PVSA Earned!

In July of 2023, Baileigh Borna - a rising senior at River Ridge High School - earned a GOLD Presidential Volunteer Service Award. Throughout her junior year, Baileigh served as a Peer Facilitator, launching the Lead4Change Student Leadership Program with ten high school juniors and seniors living in CCYA's Rise Up Academy. At the outset, Baileigh selected Jamie, a CCYA resident to co-facilitate the student lessons and working groups with her. Upon completing the program and earning his high school diploma, Jamie headed off to start his freshman year at Morehouse College.

The yearlong Lead4Change Student Leadership program at CCYA culminated in the completion of a group community service project that won a $500 Challenge Grant for the agency and earned graduation cords for the participating students. Several of the CCYA youth shared that being a part of the service project was their first team experience.

Congratulations Baileigh on earning your PVSA!
